In the summertime, the Oberwerth open-air swimming pool on the Rhine and, alternatively, the city beach on the Moselle are particularly suitable. Here, not only the children but also the whole family of all ages feel at home.
The Remstecken forester’s lodge and the Kühkopf forester’s lodge in the Koblenz city forest are very popular all year round.
Around the Remstecken forester’s lodge are various larger fenced enclosures with all kinds of wild animals, such as wild boar, goats and deer. Furthermore, the grounds offer various species of birds and ducks in some aviaries. Small children will find it particularly interesting here, as there is the possibility of borrowing small horses / ponies, on which the children can ride past the enclosures and through the forest on designated paths, guided by their parents on the reins.
At the Kühkopf forestry office, also a very good destination for parents with small children, there are not only delicious game dishes for the little ones to eat, but also lots of small animals, some of which run freely on the grounds.
Not far from Koblenz in the neighbouring town of Neuwied (about 15 km away) there is a zoo that is worth a day visit.
In the district of Bendorf-Sayn, visitors will find something very special. Here, a noble lady founded a butterfly farm many years ago, which is worth visiting in all weathers. It is a great experience to move among the butterflies / moths in a “tropical” environment.
In the immediate vicinity of Koblenz, in the neighbouring town of Lahnstein, you will find the Children’s Fun Factory with all kinds of offers for the whole family, but also for whole groups of children.
If you love castles and palaces, you are in good hands!
Lahnstein Castle, which is still fully equipped and open to visitors, is located on the hill at the mouth of the Lahn River.
Also highly recommended for a visit to the past are tours of Eltz Castle and Stolzenfels Castle. Both buildings are fully stocked with objects and weapons from the Middle Ages.
For older children, there is a wide range of organised programmes in Koblenz and the surrounding area, including at the children’s fun factory and often at Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, the third-largest fortress in Europe, which is well worth a visit. You can get to the fortress from the old town by cable car over the Rhine.
There is an interactive museum in Koblenz.
A boat trip on the Rhine or the Moselle is almost a must.
Or make a bicycle excursion, well organised and combined with train, bus and boat – an unforgettable experience for young and old. You will find corresponding suggestions of all-day tour tips in the information folders in all our holiday flats.
You can go karting at the Cart-Center-Koblenz, or combined with a great trip to the Eifel, directly at the Nürburgring, where there is also a “cart track”.
